FASHANTHROPISTS: MEGHAN PEARCE ALFONSO
Meghan Pearce Alfonso is the CEO & Founder of Pearce Family Foundation & Girl About Town. From humble beginnings to philanthropic success story she has made her way into a highly competitive space. Through the examples set by her parents she learned first hand about the importance of giving back. And in the last four years she has taken the Pearce Family Foundation from a fledgling funding organization to one that was recently recognized as among the most influential in the Phoenix Valley area. She has now assembled a team to drive positive change through her foundation and together they are hosting their 4th Annual Runway of Hope event. Now she is taking her deep "insider" knowledge of the valley and translating this into event planning magic through her newest endeavor, Girl About Town. Learn more about Meghan Pearce Alfonso.....

How do you describe what you do:
I run the Pearce Family Foundation, which is a local nonprofit that focuses on paying for bills at the home for families who have a child suffering from a chronic or life threatening illness. Every day is different, I am either connecting with families who need our assistance or planning our next big event for the foundation. When I am not working I am working out at barre3 and hanging out with my husband and my two beautiful bonus daughters.
What is the mission for your businesses’ giving:
We exist to give back to families at the home who have a child suffering from a chronic or life threatening illness. Most recently we created a new initiative called, Angel Pups, which helps pay for a portion of a service dog for a child.
How do you give back to society through your business:
We are helping families who live in Arizona who have been told the worst news of their life, that their child has an illness that is chronic or life threatening. We work with other nonprofits to ensure we are helping those who are in the most need. The foundation pays for the bill directly so the family no longer has to stress. We also hold a toy drive every year to help provide a Christmas to our families we have helped.
Charity or Charities of choice:
Well besides mine; Comfy Cozy’s, H.E.A.L. and the Phoenix Zoo.
Why have you supported these causes:
I love the founder of Comfy Cozy, Lorraine. She has the truest heart and wants to give back to every child and family she meets. I also felt connect to H.E.A.L, not only because they have a pig as a “spiritual healer” but because the founder wants to help moms who have gone through cancer get back on their feet. The Phoenix Zoo because my grandmother, my aunt, and my mom are all a part of the auxiliary, which raises money for the exhibits and educates the community on new specifies.
Favorite business based on their giving efforts and why:
Crescent Crown Distributing. They not only support our beer requests, they have been also been a huge supporter for all of our events. The humbleness these guys have and dedication to nonprofits is amazing and I hope we will also have a close relationship with them.
Who influenced your spirit of giving and how:
My great grandfather instilled it in me but my mom and dad introduced it to me. My father was the Coors beer distributor in the Valley and he always had my sister and I working on the weekends to pick up trash or help hand out Thanksgiving turkeys. My mom also had us always picking out gifts to buy during the holidays and reminding us how lucky we are.
How do you believe fashion can aid philanthropy:
Fashion is an artistic way to express yourself and is something I have always been drawn too. I like to think of events that are parties I would want to go too, which is how Runway of Hope was developed. This is a fun way to introduce supporters of our cause to new brands that they might have not known about before the show.
What is your biggest philanthropic accomplishment:
Making it to our 4th year! We also just won “Most Influential In Valley Nonprofit” as a Best of the Valley award. I am very proud to say that I grew this foundation from it being only me to now having had over 8 employees.
Favorite philanthropic quote:
